It has been revealed that the bone fragments found in a wooded area in Balıkesir belong to Korhan Berzeg, who had been sought as a missing person for approximately one year.
The bones, which were found in a creek bed and suspected to belong to Berzeg, who had not been heard from for a long time, were taken to the Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine for advanced examination.
DNA samples taken from the bones were compared with DNA samples taken from Berzeg's wife and his daughter Nisa Berzeg, who lives in England. At the end of the examination, the DNA matched.
Thus, it has been confirmed that the bone fragments found belong to Berzeg.
HE LEFT HOME ON JUNE 17...
A search operation was launched under the coordination of the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate for economist Korhan Berzeg (83), who had not been heard from after leaving his home in Armutlu Neighborhood on June 17, 2023, to go for a morning walk with his dog, "Tina".
SEARCHED FOR DAYS
Teams searched for Berzeg and his dog for days in the wooded area around Armutlu as well as in nearby neighborhoods, water wells, creek beds, and caves, but could not find any trace.
CLOTHING AND BONE FRAGMENTS FOUND
On April 23, bone and clothing fragments, as well as identification and bank cards, were found by local residents approximately 3.5 kilometers away from Armutlu and were taken for examination by the teams.
Korhan Berzeg's wife, Angela, and his daughter, Nisa Berzeg, had come to Gönen to provide DNA samples, and these samples were sent to Istanbul for laboratory analysis.
