Erzincan Governor Aydoğdu addresses cyanide leak allegations
Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydoğdu made a statement to journalists in the region regarding the landslide at the mine in İliç. While stating that all teams are on-site, Aydoğdu noted that there is no cyanide leak into the Euphrates River.

Aydoğdu made a statement regarding the landslide at the mine. Addressing the cyanide allegations, Aydoğdu said, "There is currently no leak. If there were, we would tell you. There is no leak into the Euphrates River."
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change also stated, "In order to prevent the material flowing during the landslide from reaching the Euphrates River, we have had the gates of the culvert where Sabırlı Creek meets the Euphrates River closed."
Urging citizens to rely on official sources for accurate information, Aydoğdu said:
"What is important right now is to reach our citizens trapped under this soil quickly and get them out safe and sound. We will provide all necessary information for that. Look, we are talking about soil; we went and saw the landslide on both the right and left sides with all our colleagues.
Currently, all our colleagues are taking measurements. Teams from Ankara have set out and are on their way. Right now, the most important thing for us is to get our citizens trapped under the soil out safe and sound. All our teams are here regarding this matter.
We were here the moment the incident occurred. Our Minister of Interior receives information every 10 minutes. Our President called from Egypt, and we provided him with information. All search and rescue teams are here. We are working with all our might, we are making every effort. If there is any deficiency or fault, the state will certainly do what is necessary, but our most important priority right now is to reach our citizens trapped under the soil as soon as possible."
"NO LEAK"
Governor Aydoğdu stated that he would make further statements in the future, and regarding the cyanide allegations, he said, "There is currently no leak. If there were, we would tell you. There is no leak into the Euphrates River. A landslide occurred, meaning there is no problem other than this landslide. All teams are coming, and they will carry out all the necessary checks here."
MINISTRY: WE HAD THE CULVERT GATES CLOSED
In a statement made by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, it was said, "Immediately after the landslide, we urgently dispatched our Ministry's Central and Provincial Directorate Inspection Teams to the region. In order to prevent the material flowing during the landslide from reaching the Euphrates River, we have had the gates of the culvert where Sabırlı Creek meets the Euphrates River closed."
