A court has issued a release order for Can Tanrıyar, the owner of Uçankuş TV.
The first hearing of the case against Tanrıyar, who was arrested last April on charges of "seizing or disseminating personal data" and "attempted qualified extortion" following allegations made by fugitive Muhammed Yakut, was held today at the Istanbul 38th High Criminal Court.
The detained defendant Can Tanrıyar and his wife Tamar Tanrıyar attended the hearing.
Denying the 'extortion' charge against him, Tanrıyar stated that the reason for the deterioration of his relationship with Metin Güneş was "news reports that were requested to be published for blackmail purposes."
HE HAD TARGETED METİN GÜNEŞ
One of the names targeted by Muhammed Yakut in his YouTube broadcasts was Metin Güneş, the owner of Met-Gün Construction.
Metin Güneş and his son Abdulkadir Güneş had filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office against Tanrıyar. The lawyer for the Güneş family attended the hearing.
The prosecutor requested that Can Tanrıyar remain in custody.
RELEASE ORDERED
The court, however, decided to release Tanrıyar, taking into account the time he has already spent in detention.
Tanrıyar also faces accusations of leaking information and documents to Muhammed Yakut for use in his videos.
