Fatih Altaylı's take on the Baykar-Israel partnership: 'Would you still be proud if it were Özel's son-in-law doing that collaboration?'

The allegation that Baykar collaborated with Israel at a fair in Azerbaijan has become a hot topic.

Responding to criticisms on the subject, Baykar General Manager Haluk Bayraktar did not hide the partnership, stating, "One can only be proud of this development."

REACTION FROM ALTAYLI

Evaluating the agenda on his own YouTube channel, journalist Fatih Altaylı made striking remarks on the subject.

Stating that this sponsorship was not a problem for him personally and that he was even happy about it, Altaylı posed the following question to those supporting Baykar:

“If the owner of the company called Baykar were the son-in-law of the CHP Chairman, and he were the one doing this collaboration, would you still be proud then? Or would you be tearing yourselves apart calling it the 'CHP mentality'—tell me that.”

Criticizing some journalists for their attitudes, Fatih Altaylı said, "You don't even have an ounce of sincerity. You are liars and hypocrites."

Here is Altaylı's assessment of the subject:

The sponsorship of a defense fair in Azerbaijan by Baykar—the son-in-law of President Erdoğan, which has been discussed a lot since yesterday, and which is the great pride of political Islamists, and I'll say it clearly, a company whose work we don't really resent and are proud of, or let's not say proud, but happy and pleased with—alongside Israel Aerospace Industries and the Qatari defense industry company Barzan Holding... There are about 53 Turkish companies and many Israeli companies at that fair as well. They criticized Baykar a lot here. The Baykar side and the institutions on that side of the AKP that deal with things like disinformation and whatnot said, 'What's wrong with this, one should be proud of this.'

Is it true? It's somewhat true... Well, let's say the owner of this company called Baykar were the son-in-law of the Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman, and he were the one doing this collaboration, would you still be proud then? Or would you be tearing yourselves apart calling it the 'CHP mentality'—tell me that. For my part, I have no resentment toward Baykar co-sponsoring and doing business with the Israelis at that fair. But these pro-government supporters and members of the government who say today that we should be proud of what Baykar did... If someone else had done this, what should I say, if the Koç Group had done this, if Özgür Özel's son-in-law had done this, if I had a company that did this, would you still be proud then? Or would you have called them traitors, Israeli collaborators?

"YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AN OUNCE OF SINCERITY"

Let them tell me this with sincerity... Of course, this request of mine is in vain. They don't have an ounce of sincerity, not a bit. That's why nothing they say has any validity. Because they don't speak based on the event, but based on who did the event; that is, they don't speak based on the action, but based on the subject. If the subject is one of them, everything is permissible. If it's not one of them, everything is a sin. That's why come out like a man and say, 'Brother, it's okay when we do it, but not when you do it.' And actually, there is nothing surprising here.
