Grup Yorum has taken a notable step against the censorship applied on digital music platforms such as YouTube and Spotify.

At least 454 videos of Grup Yorum, which were published on 56 different YouTube channels between 2006 and 2024 and reached a total of 205 million views, had been blocked from access on the grounds of “protecting national security and public order.”

Not remaining silent against this intense wave of censorship, Grup Yorum decided to share all their albums with the public for free.

Grup Yorum reached out to their listeners by sharing a link containing all their albums in a statement made on the social media platform X.

The following message in the group's statement drew attention:

“We are sharing the people's folk songs with the people. Instead of lowering our voice against censorship, we will continue to make it louder.”
