Had been in the spotlight for fake invoices: Figure from Yunus Emre Foundation appointed ambassador to Baku!

Ambassadorial appointments were announced with a decision published in the Official Gazette. One name among those appointed drew attention. Birol Akgün, a member of the board of trustees of the Yunus Emre Foundation, which recently made headlines with a fake invoice scandal, has been appointed as the ambassador to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. 

The decision regarding Birol Akgün, who is also the President of the Maarif Foundation, was published in the Official Gazette. 

Yakup Caymazoğlu, the Arabic translator and advisor to President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan, was appointed as the Ambassador to Amman, while former press counselor Lütfullah Göktaş was appointed as the Ambassador to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. 

OTHER AMBASSADORIAL APPOINTMENTS

Ferhat Alkan, Deputy Director General for International Law, was appointed as the Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique.

Gökhan Turan, Director General for Bilateral Relations, was appointed as the Ambassador to Berlin, Germany.

Aytaç Yılmaz, Deputy Director General for Support Services, was appointed as the Ambassador to Havana, Cuba.

Ahmet Rıza Demirer was appointed as the Director General for Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
