Hakan Fidan announces the number of Turkish citizens awaiting evacuation in Gaza

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a joint press conference following their meetings.

Responding to journalists' questions after the meeting, Fidan stated that Turkey's aid shipments to Gaza will continue and shared the following information regarding evacuations:

“Regarding the evacuations, I can say this for now. We are in close cooperation with both Egyptian and Israeli authorities on this matter. There are approximately 300 dual-citizen Turkish nationals inside. We have managed to evacuate 30 of them, but since the border crossing is closed, our efforts are currently ongoing.”

RELATIONS WITH EGYPT

Fidan also provided the following summary regarding the dialogue between Cairo and Ankara:

“It appears that Turkish businesspeople want to make more investments in Egypt, especially in the industrial sector, open more factories, and engage in more employment activities. I brought these issues up today while meeting with President Sisi. He also places great importance on Turkish investments. We will see more developments in this regard in the coming days.”

• “As Turkey and Egypt, we believe that the realization of a sovereign, independent, and geographically integrated Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders—in other words, a two-state solution—is the only valid path to a solution.
• As Turkey, we believe that four points are of importance at this stage. First and foremost, the loss of civilian lives must be prevented, regardless of which side it comes from. We see that some states are trying to portray Israel's indiscriminate reprisals in Gaza as if they were a justified intervention. Such a distorted and inhumane approach will only lead to more violence and more loss of innocent lives.”
