In the incident that took place in the Gaziemir district of İzmir, taxi driver Oğuz Erge was critically injured in an armed attack by an individual he had picked up because he did not want to leave him outside in the cold weather.
As a result of a joint operation by the İzmir Public Security Branch Directorate's Robbery and Murder Bureau, approximately 110 hours of footage from 70 security cameras were reviewed, the suspect was identified, and he was apprehended on the same day with the gun he used and the items he had robbed from the taxi driver.

TAXI DRIVER HAS LOST HIS LIFE
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca made a post on his social media account regarding the critically injured taxi driver. Minister Koca announced that the critically injured taxi driver, Oğuz Erge, had lost his life.
Minister Koca's post is as follows:
"The taxi driver who was shot with a firearm by the passenger he was carrying in Gaziemir, İzmir last night, has lost his life in the hospital where he was receiving treatment. The injured driver was taken from the scene by a 112 ambulance and transported to Gaziemir State Hospital, and after initial intervention, he underwent emergency surgery at Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. The video recording that has spread to the public is of a nature that causes great sadness in terms of how kindness can be met with brutality. We have no doubt that the perpetrator will receive the punishment he deserves. I wish God's mercy upon the deceased and offer my condolences to his relatives"
