İYİ Party prison visit to Dilruba K.: 'Dilan Polat is free, Dilruba is in prison'

A court has issued a release order for Dilruba K., who was arrested on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and enmity and insulting" and "insulting the president" due to comments she made during a street interview in İzmir. 

However, this decision will not result in Kayserilioğlu's release from prison. Although Dilruba K. was released from the charge of "insulting the president," she will remain in custody due to the charge of "inciting the public to hatred and enmity and insulting."

VISIT FROM İYİ PARTY 

İYİ Party Head of National Security and Migration Policies Cenk Özatıcı visited the imprisoned Dilruba Kayserilioğlu at İzmir Aliağa Prison. İYİ Party İzmir Provincial Chair Ülkü Doğan and Aliağa District Chair Deniz Hancı accompanied him on the visit.

Speaking after the visit, Özatıcı stated that Kayserilioğlu's morale was high and said, "Dilruba had only one request; that I bring the lawlessness and injustices in Turkey to the agenda."

'DILAN POLAT IS FREE, DILRUBA IS IN PRISON'

Emphasizing that detention pending trial should be an exceptional measure, Özatıcı said that this method is used in Turkey to suppress dissidents. "Dilan Polat, who is being tried for 27 years, was released and is being tried without arrest. Dilruba, who only did a street interview, is in prison today. In AKP's Turkey, when you form a criminal organization or launder money, you are tried without arrest, but when you criticize the government, you go to prison. This is the summary of AKP's Turkey," he said.

TURKEY CAN NO LONGER BEAR THE ONE-MAN REGIME 

Stating that the judiciary has become politicized and the state has turned into a party-state, Özatıcı said, "If a state cannot ensure fairness among its citizens, it faces the danger of losing its status as a state. Turkey can no longer bear this one-man regime in 2024, where justice only weighs in favor of the powerful and punishes dissidents."

THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER'S FARM 

Reminding that Dilruba K. was released from the charge of "insulting the president," Özatıcı said, "The expression they called an insult to the president was the phrase 'managing the country like his father's farm.' We repeat this criticism and say: Yes, Mr. President, this is not your father's farm. The Republic of Turkey is managed with public resources and the authority granted by the people. Dilruba must be released as soon as possible, and justice must be served for dissidents as well."
