Dilan Polat released from prison: Husband Engin Polat imposes restrictions

Dilan Polat, who was being tried on charges of money laundering, has been released following a decision to continue her detention. After leaving prison, Polat imposed certain restrictions while visiting her husband, Engin Polat.

A new development occurred the day before yesterday in the case involving 28 defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, who are facing up to 40 years in prison on charges of money laundering.

A decision to continue the detention of Dilan Polat had been made during her monthly detention review. This decision was appealed by Polat's lawyers. Evaluating the appeal, the 8th High Criminal Court of Anatolia decided to release Dilan Polat.

Dilan Polat was released from custody on the grounds that, "given the nature and character of the alleged crimes, the lower and upper limits of the prison sentences prescribed by law for these offenses, and particularly in light of the existing evidence in the case file, the statements taken, and the content of the report prepared by MASAK, there is a possibility that the classification of the alleged crimes may change in favor of the defendant, and that the benefit to be gained from continued detention can be achieved at this stage through judicial control measures."

Dilan Polat left the prison without answering questions from journalists. Her sister, Sıla Doğu, said, "Of course, we are very happy. They saw each other for the first time today. They were very happy."

When asked by journalists, "Did your lawyer come for a meeting?", Doğu replied, "Yes, they did. Thank you."

When asked, "How is Engin doing?", Sıla Doğu replied, "Engin is not doing well at all."

Dilan Polat was seen crying in the vehicle she was traveling in. Accustomed to luxury cars, it was noted that Dilan Polat made her journey to prison this time in an Opel-brand vehicle.

The restrictions imposed on Dilan Polat by her husband have sparked debate.
