Journalist and author Ali Sirmen laid to rest

Master journalist Ali Sirmen, who passed away at the age of 84, was laid to rest in Istanbul. Sirmen's son, Devrim Sirmen, and his family accepted condolences.

Journalist and author Ali Sirmen, who passed away at the age of 84 in the hospital where he was receiving treatment, was laid to rest in Istanbul.

A ceremony was held for Sirmen in front of the Cumhuriyet newspaper building.

The ceremony was attended by many people, including former Chief of General Staff General İlker Başbuğ, Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Özbek, Uğur Mumcu's son Özgür Mumcu, former CHP Chairman Altan Öymen, CHP Şişli Mayoral Candidate Resul Emrah Şahan, former Ambassador Onur Öymen, and author Ayşe Kulin.

'I HAVE MANY MEMORIES'

Speaking to journalists, Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Özbek stated that Ali Sirmen was a significant loss for the yellow-red club, saying, "Ali was an important member of ours. I have many memories with him. I wish patience to his family and God's mercy upon him."

A funeral ceremony was later held for Sirmen at the Zincirlikuyu Mosque.

Sirmen's family, loved ones, and colleagues were present at the ceremony there as well. Sirmen's son, Devrim Sirmen, and his family accepted condolences in the mosque courtyard.

Following the funeral prayer held at noon, Ali Sirmen's body was interred at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
