In the last 24 hours, three women were murdered by their husbands in Istanbul and Ankara.
23-year-old Öznur Akkaya, who lived in the Mehmet Akif neighborhood of Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, was stabbed in the middle of the street by Gökhan Akkaya, who she was in the process of divorcing.
The assailant husband, who tried to flee the scene, was apprehended by citizens. Despite all interventions at the hospital, Öznur Akkaya lost her life.
According to reports by AA, in the Mamak district of Ankara, B.B. was killed by Z.B., who she was in the process of divorcing. Z.B. later committed suicide.
In Istanbul's Bağcılar district, K.Ç., who was stabbed by her husband I.Ç., lost her life at the hospital where she had been taken with injuries. I.Ç., who called the police after stabbing his wife, was taken into custody.

On August 10, a dispute broke out between Serpil G. (35) and her husband Harun G. (40), whom she was in the process of divorcing, on Eslem Street in the Taşoluk neighborhood of Istanbul's Arnavutköy district. During the dispute, Harun G. shot and killed his wife, Serpil G. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene following reports from bystanders.
Police teams arriving at the scene saw Harun G. waiting over his wife with a gun and called on him via megaphone to drop his weapon and surrender. After a while, the suspect dropped his weapon, lay on the ground, and was taken into custody.
