Ministry responds to claims of oil shipments to Israel

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has responded to claims that oil shipments were being made from Ceyhan to Israel. 

The Ministry issued a written statement regarding the oil sales process carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Crude Oil Pipeline.

The statement included the expression, "The claims that oil shipments are being made from Ceyhan to Israel and that Turkey is allowing this are completely baseless."

'NO LOADING FOR ISRAEL HAS TAKEN PLACE'

It was stated that the companies transporting oil via the BTC and selling it to world markets from the Heydar Aliyev Terminal respect Turkey's decision to terminate trade with Israel, and that no loading with Israel as the delivery point has taken place.

The statement further noted the following:

"The BTC is operated based on the international agreement signed between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia on November 18, 1999, and the Host Government Agreements that constitute its annex. The operation of the Turkish section of the pipeline is carried out by BOTAŞ International AŞ within the framework of the Operation Agreement signed with the BTC partners. Within the scope of the aforementioned agreements, BOTAŞ International AŞ, which operates the line, has no involvement or authority regarding the purchase and sale of the oil."
