Mümtazer Türköne has responded to the statements made by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli regarding the fact that no early elections will be held.
Stating that he did not take Bahçeli's words personally, Türköne said, "My analysis was about the Solution Process."
Türköne stated, "I said that if the Solution Process does not work, an early election becomes inevitable. If there is no return to the rule of law, the Solution Process will not work. I still hold the same view."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Writer Mümtaz'er Türköne had claimed in his assessment of the new solution process that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan "is still not warm" to the 'solution process'.
Türköne had alleged, "Erdoğan will sabotage the solution process, meaning he will prevent the development of the solution process. And upon this, Bahçeli will take Turkey to an early election."
Bahçeli, in a written statement today, expressed the following:
"The hopes of those rotten individuals who attempt to debate our party with lies and clamor about early elections, and who attempt to read intentions with their tiny minds, are in vain. The decision of the Nationalist Movement Party and the People's Alliance is final; elections will be held on time and there will never be any compromise on this."
