MHP leader Bahçeli's 'early election' statement! 'Lies and clamor...'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said, "In the near term, weapons will be buried, and the curtain of inclusive and democratic politics will be opened, never to be closed again. At this stage, the most reasonable and just option is for the PKK to convene its congress, complete the organizational dissolution process in accordance with the February 27 Imralı call, and surrender its weapons to the Republic of Türkiye."

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made the following statements in his address:

After drawing correct, balanced, profound, and objective conclusions, and provided that the necessary lessons are learned, the ever-burning torch of history will both illuminate our path and cast light beyond the horizon. It is an absurd expectation for societies or nations that do not know their past, or more pathetically, have turned their backs on and scorned their past, to unlock the locked doors of the future or to claim life and existence in the scales of history. To grasp the backbone of flowing life and to see the true nature of events that constantly take on different colors, shapes, and guises is, first and foremost, possible only with a sound and sensible consciousness of history.

This consciousness connects the past and the future with a solid and orderly bridge of destiny. The most significant and persistent problem of Turkish politics is the state of madness caused by mindless excitement and the resulting burden of exhaustion. A policy that is stuck in a single day, follows daily events, and is trapped in revanchist obsessions certainly has no mission, and its vision is entirely hollow. Unfortunately, both Turkish politics and world politics are in a dry period. Consequently, it takes time for a culture of problem-solving to take root; in other words, it requires breaking prejudices, overcoming psychological difficulties, and resolving politico-economic blockages. Despite the resistance of elitist circles, the obstruction of tutelary segments, and the opposition of exploitative, denialist, and prohibitionist mentalities, Türkiye is resolutely demonstrating its will to rid itself of its chronic problems.

"THE EXECUTION AND SUMMARY OF THE TERROR-FREE TÜRKİYE GOAL IS THE SIGN OF THIS DETERMINATION IN THE NEW CENTURY"

The execution and summary of the goal of a terror-free Türkiye is the sign of this determination in the new century. The Turkish nation, from seven to seventy, has embraced this goal. While a tremendous collective wisdom is in play, to covet non-democratic pursuits, to try to muddy the waters, to spread fear, and to increase doubts is an insult to the national will. While winds of peace, tranquility, and brotherhood have begun to blow from east to west, from north to south, lying in wait to spoil this atmosphere is a mistake that reaches the level of treason.

In a time interval when regional tension is escalating and global political and economic chaos resembles a violent storm, the effort to reach the goal of a terror-free Türkiye, which has come about through state-nation solidarity without any external pressure, imposition, or coercion, is a miraculous breakthrough of the last century. The sleep of internal and external centers that have been looking for a suitable environment and situation for decades to sow seeds of discord between Turks and Kurds is being disturbed, and their discomfort is permeating their every state.

The Turkish nation is fond of its existence, unity, and thousand-year brotherhood to an unprecedented degree, and indeed, it aims not to stain its honor. Water will find its bed. The turbulent sea will eventually calm down. The ashes will not catch fire again, and they will not be able to. With the accompaniment of well-intentioned, fair, determined, understanding, compassionate, tolerant, patient, and hopeful dialogue and cooperation; guided by direct, uninterrupted, unencumbered, unconditional, and transparent contact and communication, auspicious results will emerge.

Moreover, this is my sincere desire and belief. In the near term, weapons will be buried, and the curtain of inclusive and democratic politics will be opened, never to be closed again. At this stage, the most reasonable and just option is for the PKK to convene its congress, complete the organizational dissolution process in accordance with the February 27 Imralı call, and surrender its weapons to the Republic of Türkiye.

Bidding farewell to bloody and illegal weapons is a loyalty to human values. This matter should not be prolonged any further. The iron must be struck while it is hot. Receiving the good news regarding the realization of the terror-free Türkiye goal one by one, turning our national means and resources toward social and economic development in the new century of the Republic, wrapping our country in reforms from head to toe, equipping it with an investment mobilization, and making moves that will leapfrog it above contemporary civilizations is our primary and fundamental duty.

The People's Alliance is faithful, willing, determined, and furthermore, capable and sufficient to fulfill this duty to the letter. My prayer to God is for the speedy recovery and healing of Mr. Sırrı Süreyya Önder, DEM Party Istanbul Deputy and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, who sincerely serves the goal of a terror-free Türkiye. It is my wish that Mr. Önder, who has stood out as one of the names whose clear stance and constructive attitude toward the DEM Party becoming a party of Türkiye are well known, returns to his work. Türkiye will rid itself of its shackles and black propaganda apparatuses.

Despite the politics of attack and hostility that the CHP Chairman has unhesitatingly implemented against our country, this salvation will be realized. The CHP's opposition is an extremist and corrupt opposition planned on putting Türkiye in a difficult position.

The CHP's opposition is a dark policy aimed at bringing down the homeland and the state. Our democracy and legal security are under threat.

Those who hide behind our high school and university students and provoke the streets, who shamelessly boycott sustenance and blessings, or rather, who hostilely target the national economy and national institutions, have essentially turned into a clear threat to Türkiye. The CHP Chairman's statement that "I will declare war" is a flawed logic, an imprudent and even scandalous delirium. Who he will declare war on, who he will fight this war with, what he will fight for, and how he will reinforce his shortage of weapons and militants is a mystery, ambiguous, and vague. I say to Özgür Özel, we do not wish for it, but if conditions make it impossible for us to make another choice and you insistently look for an interlocutor to declare war on, we are here; we have the power and the stature to prove how one fights, how one struggles, and what the dire consequences of declaring war are.

First and foremost, the CHP must respect the rule of law and the ongoing judicial process. Shouting in front of ordered crowds, like a bald man looking for a comb, wearing a cap and driving a fake and rented tractor will never influence the independent and impartial Turkish courts. Özgür Özel has broken the axle and been thrown into the abyss. He has accelerated his politics of chaos and crisis. More noteworthy than these is that he has cowardly abandoned his will and the control of his politics to the hands and whims of circles hostile to Türkiye.

Especially after the opening of the 77th Session of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye on April 16, 2025, the fact that the CHP Deputy Speaker and the CHP Clerk Member implemented a previously prepared plot and action plan to carry out unlawful, illegal, and pirate acts and transactions is a great injustice, shamelessness, and political immorality against our Veteran Assembly, which embraces a 105-year history.

The CHP mentality, which had the operative part of the Constitutional Court's decision regarding Can Atalay, who has a finalized prison sentence, read out, has clearly violated customs and the Internal Regulations. I would like to state again that the CHP Deputy Speaker and the CHP Clerk Member must resign immediately. As another measure, until the end of this legislative year, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye should refrain from granting the CHP Deputy Speaker the license and permission to preside over the General Assembly. The matter has dimensions other than the illegitimate and immoral reading of a decision about a convict. The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye has not encountered such a violation of authority and overstepping of responsibility. The text read regarding Can Atalay and the legal consequences it is hoped to produce are void with absolute nullity. The fact that a political has-been speaks nonsense in such twilight times also constantly exposes his potential indigestion. The disgrace that occurred on the 105th anniversary of our Veteran Assembly is a heavy attack and assassination on the national will. Those who have the Can Atalay decision read out today through stealth and opportunism will be able to bring another potential measure and proposal against Türkiye to the agenda tomorrow by presenting it as a fait accompli.

The CHP is now a dangerous political focus. It is a poisonous political organ for our national security and our democratic life. The memories of the First Assembly have evaporated in the CHP. The years of the National Struggle have been wiped away. The Kuvayı Milliye (National Forces) tradition has been crushed like a steamroller. What is even more saddening is that the memories of the Dear Atatürk have been trampled upon. The CHP has opposed national sovereignty. As is known, democracy and national sovereignty fully emerged on the historical stage on April 23, 1920.

Democracy and national sovereignty will only find their meaning and permanence through the moral representatives of the nation who know how to respect and adhere to these values. In the political and social climate of the world at that time, our Assembly, with its unique features, is both an example for humanity and a document of warning, inspiration, and respect for Turkish history. Let us not forget that in the painful picture where we withdrew from our spheres of sovereignty one by one, the name of the Turkish nation's last and most effective move at that time is the Grand National Assembly. Ultimately, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye is the meeting of Turkish nationalism, the love of nation and homeland, with the national will, and their union never to be separated.

There is no need to go far to seek and understand the cherished memories of April 23, 1920. It is possible to see, understand, and recognize the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye vividly in the high ideals manifested in the spirit of May 19, in the decisions penned in the light of smoky gas lamps, in the endless yellowed telegrams, in the congress halls gathered with excitement, in the dim wagons of trains carrying soldiers, in the creaking wheels of oxcarts carrying ammunition, in the boats full of troubles, in the desks brought from schools and spent with sleepless nights, and finally in the homeland soil full of martyrdom; it is also a matter of honor for every person of conscience.

With the Presidential Government System, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye has gained even more effectiveness, fully attained its true function, and its check-and-balance quality has been registered. In addition, the separation of powers has been clarified and finalized. The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye is a distinguished place of manifestation of the Turkish nation's sweat, labor, and the will that will live forever, born from the struggle for liberation given from front to front. The Veteran Assembly, without getting caught up in the provocations of the CHP and the coalition of slanderers, has reached a stronger position that owns its true function and historical heritage even more. The opening of the Grand National Assembly has also constituted an enviable example of what our dear nation can risk and achieve in the face of impositions directed at its existence and survival.

Both the opening conditions of the Grand National Assembly and all the subsequent political and social developments have served as a historical warning document for those who underestimate our nation, attempt to reach out and speak against its honor and sacred values, and try to test its strength to understand what kind of fate awaits them. For this reason, I think that knowing the meaning of the process that started with the opening of our National Assembly in detail is very important for the correct understanding of similar threats that reappear in our state and national life. In this respect, it will be a futile effort for those who could not overpower the Turkish nation even in the most pessimistic environment and the most difficult moments to try their luck once again with new adventures today.

"EARLY ELECTION IS A LIE AND CLAMOR"

The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye is at its post, it is open; it is the heart of the Republic of Türkiye, it is the Turkish nation itself. The ambitions of the rotten ones who attempt to discuss our party with the lie and clamor of an early election and who attempt to read intentions with their tiny minds are in vain. The decision of the Nationalist Movement Party and the People's Alliance is final; elections will be held on time, and there will never be any compromise on this.

With the formation of the national will at the Stone Building in Ulus on Friday, April 23, 1920, the foundations of the Republic of Türkiye were laid, and the First Assembly took its firm place on the historical stage with Quran recitations, sacrificed animals, amens poured from lips, and wishes torn from hearts. On the 105th anniversary of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, it is a debt to the homeland and sacred values for the esteemed deputies to act in accordance with the history, honor, dignity, and meaning of the "Veteran Assembly" they are members of in every decision they make.

"THERE IS NO POWER BEFORE AND ABOVE THE NATION"

In this Assembly, every legitimate view should be voiced freely within the framework of democratic boundaries, just as it was in the 1920s.

The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye is the representative institution of the will and sovereignty of the Turkish nation. Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. There is no power before and above the nation.

In the Veteran Assembly, which challenged the seven powers yesterday and did not depart from the virtue of democracy even in the most turbulent moments and under the most difficult conditions, there is permission for every idea, but there is no permission, no allowance, and no opportunity for treason, separatism, and division. It is my sincere wish that everyone adheres to this historical and national determination.

Just as the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, which was opened three years before our Republic, heralded the birth of the new Turkish state, our bright children also herald the honorable and high future of our country. If you ask us, this is the most important reason and justification for this blessed day being gifted to our children. Our nation will continue its existence with the new generations growing from its bosom, and our state will continue to look to the future with hope with the young generations.

On this occasion, I celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of our dear children and all the children in the world to whom this day is dedicated. I wish for real and lasting peace, tranquility, happiness, and brotherhood. I commemorate with gratitude the esteemed memories of the unknown heroes who lie in peace by sacrificing their existence in the geographies where we ruled for centuries. I remember with mercy the heroic generations that enabled us to come to life and existence in the Republic of Türkiye, our dear martyrs, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who entrusted this blessed Assembly to us, the esteemed members of the first Assembly, and all the deputies who have passed into eternity.

With these thoughts, I celebrate the 105th opening anniversary of our Veteran Assembly with feelings of pride, and I wish my dear nation years full of well-being and salvation."
