In the AKP, which fell to the position of the second party in its history following the defeat it suffered in the March 31 local elections, the steps to be taken by President Erdoğan were being awaited.
'Recovery' moves are beginning in the AKP following the debacle in the local elections. Accordingly, it is planned that the process, which will start with the participation of new mayors and members of parliament on the party's anniversary, will continue according to a set schedule.
According to inside information obtained by Altan Sancar from Gerçek Gündem, some steps to be taken to exit the second-party position, in addition to the moral superiority lost to the CHP, have been determined within the AKP. In parallel with the steps personally decided and scheduled by President Erdoğan, polls targeting the grassroots and the public will be conducted.
According to the plan, which AKP members also evaluate as the first step of preparation for the general elections within the party, Erdoğan will give the message that "Nothing is over" with the speech he will deliver on August 14. At the event, along with messages regarding the opposition, responses will also be given to the criticisms voiced by society toward the party. Furthermore, signals of changes to be made within the party will be given.
In response to the 'AKP will lose' atmosphere created after the local elections, messages will be given that this will continue with participations from the opposition to show that the party is still a center of attraction.
WHO WILL JOIN THE AKP?
According to AKP members, among the names likely to join on August 14 are some district mayors representing the Milli Görüş tradition, along with currently independent members of parliament.
It is expected that Ersagun Yücel, who resigned from the İYİ Party in recent days, along with Seyithan İzsiz, will join the AKP. It is also being emphasized that Bilal Bilici, who was elected from the same party, may join these names. It is stated that Yücel wanted to join the AKP immediately after resigning from the İYİ Party, but waited upon Erdoğan's request.
Party sources state that after this stage, steps will be taken regarding the AKP's organizations and the party's management. Following changes in the top management, the AKP is expected to take its second transfer step, and this time, it is expected to turn toward 'former members'.
At this stage, Selim Temurci, İsa Mesih Şahin, and Nedim Yamalı from the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) are expected to join the party. AKP members state that the invitation to Temurci was made personally by Erdoğan and that he is considered important within the party. It is pointed out that high-level dialogue with Yamalı and Şahin is also continuing.
