Salim Ensarioğlu, rumored to be joining the AKP, speaks to 12punto: 'I will decide after the CHP congress'

Claiming that there will be a "wave of parliamentary transfers" next week, Tv100 presenter Cansu Canan Özgen alleged that 7 deputies from the İYİ Party and the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) would join the AKP.

The deputies included in these allegations were listed as follows:

İYİ Party Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Ersagun Yüce and Istanbul Deputy Seyithan İzsiz, who previously engaged in politics within the İYİ Party and resigned, Adana Deputy Bilal Bilici, Istanbul Deputy Salim Ensarioğlu, as well as Future Party Istanbul Deputy and Group Deputy Chairman İsa Mesih Şahin, Istanbul Deputy Selim Temurci, and Ankara Deputy Nedim Yamalı.

Evaluating the claim that he would join the AKP to 12punto, Salim Ensarioğlu stated that he had no knowledge of the matter, adding, "I am enjoying my independence."

'THE VOTER HAS TRIED TO MAKE THE CHP THE CENTER'

Pointing to a speech he made previously, Ensarioğlu evaluated the March 31 local elections and said the following:

"I respect the decision of the nation. The CHP increased its vote, which was 22 percent, to 37 percent. Our nation does not take to the streets, does not protest, but it made its decision at the ballot box. The CHP Chairman is someone new. 15 percent of that 37 percent is a vote coming from the center. A portion also did not go to the polls. The voter, angry at Erdoğan or the center-right, shifted to the CHP and tried to make the CHP the center."

'THE SITUATION OF THE CHP WILL BECOME CLEAR AFTER SEPTEMBER'

Pointing to the CHP's Statute Congress in September, Ensarioğlu stated, "I said that if Mr. Tayyip can regroup, if he can open up to the outside, and if he can reach the public through the organizations, he can do this. It is not clear what either of them is doing yet. Mr. Tayyip went to a camp and made a self-criticism there. It is seen that there is movement, but there is no such movement in the CHP. There is a statute congress in September. The CHP is still trying to solve its internal problems and is preparing for the congress. In my opinion, the situation of the CHP will become clear after September."

'I WILL BE WHEREVER I FIND TO BE RIGHT'

Stating that being an independent deputy means "not engaging in politics," Ensarioğlu continued his words as follows:

"I am an independent deputy, and I will observe and look. I will be wherever I find to be right. Being an independent deputy means not engaging in politics. I will continue to engage in politics, but ideologically, I am closer to Mr. Tayyip.

I come from the center-right. My father served during the Menderes era, and my brother served as a Justice Party deputy for four terms. I served as a deputy for three terms in the True Path Party (Doğru Yol). Despite this, I am approaching the center from the CHP, but I am closer to Mr. Tayyip.

I am watching right now. I haven't talked to anyone about anything. It seems to me that Mr. Tayyip is taking a step, while the CHP is waiting for the congress."

TEMURCİ HAD ALSO EXPLAINED TO 12PUNTO

Another name among the allegations, Future Party Istanbul Deputy Selim Temurci, stated that he had a meeting with President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan upon the invitation of AKP figures before the holiday, and responded to the allegations that he would join the AKP by saying, “It would not be appropriate for our legal relationship with our President or for party law to discuss these things right now. We are evaluating.”
