Statement from Nasuh Mahruki: 'There is no investigation file'

Former Search and Rescue Association (AKUT) president Nasuh Mahruki announced the other day that a detention order had been issued against him, stating, "7-8 people claiming to be police in plain clothes came to my house and said they had come to take me. I am now leaving the restaurant and heading home." It was subsequently learned that an investigation had been launched into Mahruki.

Nasuh Mahruki's wife has made a new statement, announcing that there is no investigation into Mahruki.

In a post shared on her husband's social media account, Mine Mahruki stated, "I am Mine, Nasuh is not currently in custody because there is no document sent to him from the prosecutor's office, there is no file at the prosecutor's office, there is no investigation file on his e-government portal, there is no formal summons issued to him, and there is no notification of any kind."

'HE WILL GO TO GIVE A STATEMENT IF SUMMONED PROPERLY'

"Hello everyone,

I am Mine, Nasuh is not currently in custody because there is no document sent to him from the prosecutor's office, there is no file at the prosecutor's office, there is no investigation file on his e-government portal, there is no formal summons issued to him, and there is no notification of any kind.

If the prosecutor's office issues a formal invitation, he will of course go to give a statement at the first opportunity. He is currently preparing his responses based on what he has learned from the media, just like everyone else."

'I LEAVE IT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE PUBLIC...'

Mine Mahruki said, "When I spoke with Nasuh, he conveyed his thanks for your close interest and support," and shared Nasuh Mahruki's statement regarding the matter as follows:

“Without an investigation being launched against me by the prosecutor's office—that is, without a file initiated by a complaint or through an ex officio method—being targeted for removal by 6-7 plainclothes individuals, presumed to be police, who came to my door at night in civilian vehicles and plain clothes, and having them wait in front of my house until morning even though I was coincidentally not at home, is a situation contrary to law and general practice. I would also like to add that the plainclothes police did not leave any official document, summons, etc., when they left.

If an investigation is to be opened because I posted a tweet containing an ordinary thought and comment on the X platform, what should be done is not to conduct a raid using police methods in the dead of night, intimidating and frightening my children and my wife, my only family, and disturbing our neighbors who live on our quiet street, which has never seen such a thing before.

My place is known, my home is known; I have lived at this address since I was born and raised. We have been living for exactly 62 years in the house that my grandfather, one of the first bankers and first civil engineers of the Republic, built himself in the neighborhood he founded himself.

While this matter should normally be an ordinary investigation conducted by the Press Prosecutor's Office, the fact that a raid was carried out on my home with strange and disturbing police methods as if I were a criminal who had committed murder or was on the run, and that such an irregular process was carried out against me, does not align with any official or legal practice. I protest this unserious and personal practice.

The method that should be used here is to follow the state's official rules and summon the relevant person to give a statement via a written invitation. However, I leave it to the discretion of the public to judge how appropriate it is for our law and social peace to attempt to capture a person with a night-time raid by plainclothes individuals who are not even clearly identifiable as police, as if I had committed an extraordinary crime.”
