On the night connecting September 26 to September 27, former national football player and football commentator Serhat Akın was shot in the foot in Beykoz. The 19-year-old perpetrator, Ozan Dalmaz, stated in his testimony to the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office that the order for the attack was given by his distant relative, Hasan Şahin.
MY INTENTION WAS TO INTIMIDATE
In his testimony, Ozan Dalmaz stated that he had no intention of killing Akın and only wanted to intimidate him. Dalmaz said, "I carried out this act as a result of Hasan Şahin's threats. Şahin did not give me a reason; he just wanted me to do this job. I did not carry out the attack in exchange for money; the person who received the money is O.M."
OTHER SUSPECTS DENIED THE ACCUSATIONS
O.M., who was mentioned in the incident, denied Dalmaz's claims in his testimony. O.M. said, "Only Ozan met with Hasan Şahin. I drove the motorcycle at the scene and did not engage in any other action. I received the money, but I did so on Ozan's instructions." Y.G., the person who delivered the money, stated that he did not know any of the suspects and said, "I do not know what this money was for."
INVESTIGATION DEEPENS
The name of Hasan Şahin, who is alleged to have given the order for the attack and lives in Georgia, stands out as the key figure in the incident.
While claims that Serhat Akın had a gambling debt to Şahin have been circulating on social media, Akın denied these allegations through his lawyers. The statement said, "This organized attack is within the scope of an investigation being meticulously conducted by our state. The allegations on social media have nothing to do with our client."
Serhat Akın's lawyers had stated in a post on their social media accounts that their client had no connection to these allegations. The statement from Akın's lawyers is as follows:
"The baseless accusations made against our client are unfounded. The true purpose of the attack will be revealed as a result of the investigation."
