Following the arrest and imprisonment of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place, news of further trustee appointments arrived this morning from the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti. The Ministry of Interior announced that trustees have been appointed to the three municipalities and removed the incumbent mayors from office.

The CHP and DEM Party, which have been the targets of the trustee practices, have decided not to participate in parliamentary proceedings to protest the developments. Accordingly, deputies from both parties will not participate in any proceedings, including the Plan and Budget Committee and the General Assembly.

Furthermore, the DEM Party announced that it has moved its group meeting from Parliament to Mardin due to the appointment of trustees in place of the mayors.

DEM Party Co-Chairs Tuncer Bakırhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları will travel to Batman and Mardin.
