Halfeti trustee updates website, adds photo and name
Halfeti District Governor Hakan Başoğlu, who was appointed as the trustee to the Halfeti Municipality, has updated the municipality's website.
Halfeti Mayor Mehmet Karayılan was removed from office this morning.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior cited Karayılan's 6-year, 3-month, and 15-day prison sentence for “being a member of an armed terrorist organization” and an ongoing investigation into him for the same charge as the reasons for his removal.
Halfeti District Governor Hakan Başoğlu was appointed as the trustee to replace Karayılan.
Upon taking office, Trustee Başoğlu immediately made changes to the municipality's website, adding his name and photograph as the acting mayor.
