Sharp reaction from CHP to Yılmaz Özdil: Know your place

Journalist Yılmaz Özdil, had criticized CHP Chairman Özgür Özel ,who met with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a video titled 'The Leader of the Century gave a seat to Özgür Özel'.

Responding to questions from Armağan Çağlayan on Ekol TV, Özel said the following regarding Yılmaz Özdil: 'Instead of saying "where did we go wrong," this mentality that calls voters who didn't vote for us "jerry-cans"... The reason we became the leading party for the first time in 47 years is the break we made from this mentality.' he stated.

Özdil's response to Özel was not delayed. Posting on his X account, Özdil used the following expressions:

'Buket Aydın's leader Özgür Özel, I will make you eat this slander of yours. Özgür Özel, who attacked me because I said "He does not want an early election, he is giving the AKP a chance to recover," I will make you eat this slander.' 

'Özgür Özel, the big brother of trolls who curse at honest journalists, I will make you eat this slander.' 

'Özgür Özel, who attacked me because I said "He is the first and only chairman in the world who does not want an early election despite being the leading party," and because I said "He is making a special effort for the AKP to remain in power for four more years," I will make you eat this slander.'

'KNOW YOUR PLACE YILMAZ ÖZDİL'

A response to Özdil's harsh outburst came from CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel.

Yücel used the following expressions:

'For a person to use a tone like "I will make you eat your words" to the CHP Chairman, they must have lost their senses. Did Mr. Özgür Özel curse? Did he insult? He only made an observation... Who have you ever made eat their words until today that you are acting like a neighborhood bully, Yılmaz Özdil? Know your place! While you were exploiting people's Ataturkist, Republican, secular, and laic sentiments for years, you were also belittling the masses who voted for the government and carrying water to the mill of the government's polarization and segregation politics. Don't worry, we will come to power despite you.'

AĞBABA: DO NOT PRETEND TO BE AN OPPOSITION

CHP Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba also shared on his social media account and included the following statements: 

'Words that go beyond indecency to the level of cursing against the CHP Chairman, who has achieved a great success after nearly half a century, cannot be accepted as criticism.'

'The unbearable "lightness" of criticizing the opposition in the easiest and most uncouth way does not elevate you. Everyone is aware of what and whom these words serve! Do not pretend to be an opposition! We wish for you to overcome your personal grudges and engage in real, objective journalism.'
