Statement from Minister Uraloğlu on Instagram: Is Instagram being unblocked?

While the access ban on Instagram continues, a critical meeting was held between bureaucrats from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Instagram officials.

The meeting, which began at 1:00 PM, concluded at 7:00 PM. In a statement made after the meeting, Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, "We did not get the exact result we wanted in the discussions regarding the reopening of Instagram. I thought we could finish this today, but it didn't happen. There is no progress regarding Instagram."

An access ban was imposed on Instagram by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK). Access to Instagram has still not been restored, with the ban now exceeding 48 hours.

Bureaucrats from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure held a meeting with Instagram officials. The request for the meeting came from Instagram.

The meeting, which took place online, began at 1:00 PM. A final decision regarding Instagram was expected following this meeting.

However, according to a report on NTV, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who made a statement after the meeting concluded at 7:00 PM, said, "We did not get the exact result we wanted in the discussions regarding the reopening of Instagram. I thought we could finish this today, but it didn't happen. There is no progress regarding Instagram."

Uraloğlu added, "We will continue to meet with Instagram officials."

STATEMENT FROM META

A Meta spokesperson also made a statement regarding the Instagram access ban.

"Millions of people in Turkey are being deprived of a way to communicate with their families and friends on a daily basis, and businesses are similarly unable to reach their customers due to the blocking of access to Instagram," the statement said, adding that they would continue to do their best to restore their services.
