Support for İmamoğlu from Mansur Yavaş: "I am suspending my candidacy"

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş made a harsh statement regarding the legal and political process targeting Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In his statement regarding the stripping of İmamoğlu's right to candidacy, Yavaş used the following expressions: “No one should think that we will remain silent or be pleased with the stripping of İmamoğlu's right to candidacy through a force outside of law and democracy.”

Emphasizing that the injustice done to Ekrem İmamoğlu cannot be accepted, Yavaş said, “I do not accept this injustice done to Mayor Ekrem.”

Stating that they are in the midst of an unlawful process, Yavaş expressed that he would stand by Ekrem İmamoğlu during this process.

Referring to his previous statement that “I will evaluate my presidential candidacy when the day comes,” Yavaş said, “I am suspending my candidacy decision until this injustice is eliminated.”
