Starting from January 2024, fixed taxes, fines, fees, and charges will be increased at the beginning of each year by the 'revaluation rate' in accordance with Article 298 of the Tax Procedure Law. According to a report by Dünya newspaper columnist Naki Bakır, taxes and fees that closely affect citizens—such as property tax, Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), traffic fines, driver's license and passport fees, and vehicle inspection fees—will increase by nearly 60%.

The relevant parts of Naki Bakır's article are as follows:

"The revaluation rate to be applied to various taxes, fines, fees, and charges at the beginning of 2024 will become clear on November 3, when the October 2023 inflation data is announced. The level of the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) as of the end of September indicates that the revaluation rate, which will be effective from the beginning of the year, will be around 60%. Accordingly, various taxes, fines, fees, and charges will increase at a high rate next year, albeit not as much as in 2023. In the event of a monthly producer price increase of over 5% in October, the D-PPI increase based on the twelve-month averages that determine the revaluation will be even higher, and unless the President exercises their authority to reduce or increase rates in areas where they are empowered, the obligations for the relevant items will be increased at this rate at the beginning of 2024. A high revaluation rate and the resulting high increase in taxes and fines also mean carrying the erosion caused by high inflation in 2023, particularly on low and fixed incomes, into 2024."

The obligations that will be increased at the beginning of the year based on the revaluation rate to be determined at the end of October are as follows:

Property Tax,

Environmental Cleaning Tax,

Motor Vehicle Tax,

Income Tax Law,

certain exemption amounts, tax bracket thresholds, etc.,

Inheritance and Gift Tax, exemptions, tariff bases
