With the decision published in the Official Gazette, the SCT increase rate to be applied to fuel has been determined. With the decision taken, the SCT increase to be made on fuel products remained limited. Thus, the SCT applied to fuel products will see a 6 percent increase. The first assessment came from Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek.
Minister Şimşek said, "This support will make a positive contribution to the disinflation process."
Şimşek used the following expressions:
"By limiting the tax increase on fuel products, we are providing strong support to monetary policy. This support will make a positive contribution to the disinflation process. With our President's Decree, we have limited the increase in the SCT amount on fuel and natural gas products, which concern all parties, from the fuel used by farmers and transporters to the petroleum products used by industrialists and the natural gas used by households.
SCT amounts were to be updated by adding the increase that would occur in December. With the decision we have taken, we have made an increase at a rate even lower than the 5-month realization. With this regulation, which supports price stability for the protection of our citizens' purchasing power, sustainable growth, and permanent prosperity increase, we are foregoing approximately 12 billion liras in tax revenue."
