Following the Cabinet meeting held on Monday, President Erdoğan announced new decisions, stating that a one-time payment of 5,000 lira would be made to retirees who are not currently working.

Erdoğan included the following statements in his announcement;

"I am very well aware of the difficulties our retirees are experiencing. For this reason, I had given the necessary instructions to our ministers to make new preparations. Following the comprehensive evaluations we made at our Cabinet meeting, we have taken a new decision that will provide relief to our retirees.

We have decided to make a one-time payment of 5,000 lira to our retirees. We are excluding those who are both retired and still actively working from this regulation.

These payments, which have a total cost to our budget exceeding 61 billion lira, will be deposited into our retirees' accounts as of the first half of November.

We will review the situation of retirees again at the beginning of the year, and hopefully, we will demonstrate every kind of sacrifice then. I wish this decision, which directly affects our 12.2 million retirees, to be beneficial."

MINISTER IŞIKHAN GAVE A DATE

The statement regarding when the payment would be made to retirees came from Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan. In his statement, Minister Işıkhan said, "The sooner the parliamentary process is concluded, the more beneficial it will be for our retirees. We will make this payment close to the 15th of November. Our retirees will see this figure in their accounts."

Following these words, the regulation regarding the 5,000 lira payment to retirees was added via a motion to the legislative proposal on the rental of residences for tourism purposes, which was being discussed in the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee, and the legislative proposal was accepted by the committee.
