Mpox virus spreads to 2 more countries
The Mpox virus has been detected in Argentina and Thailand. A cargo ship has been quarantined in Argentina, while in Thailand, an individual arriving from Congo has contracted the virus.

Congo and its neighboring countries have been affected by the Mpox virus, which has spread outside the African continent to Sweden, leading the World Health Organization to declare a "public health emergency of international concern."
Two more countries have been added to the list of Mpox cases reported outside of Africa.
SPREADS TO SOUTH AMERICA
In the South American country of Argentina, a cargo ship has dropped anchor due to a suspected case.
The ship, which was quarantined on the Parana River near the city of Rosario, was traveling from the Brazilian city of Santos to the Port of San Lorenzo.
Argentine authorities reported that a crew member of Indian nationality on the ship was observed to have skin lesions on his chest and face.
The suspected case has been isolated from the rest of the crew and placed under quarantine.
Following the development, the Argentine Ministry of Health activated its Public Health Emergency Protocol.
Only medical personnel have been permitted to board the ship. The other crew members have also been tested.
MPOX CASE IN THAILAND
In Thailand, a statement from local media confirmed that an MPOX case has been recorded in the country.
According to a report by the local news agency Thai Enquirer, the patient is a foreign national who traveled from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Health authorities have not yet shared further details regarding the matter.
