Constitutional Court crisis continues! This is how lawyers began their march to the Court of Cassation

Following the major crisis between the Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation regarding the imprisonment of Hatay MP Can Atalay, the decision by lawyers to march to the Court of Cassation in their robes was met with police obstruction. After negotiations between the Ankara Bar Association and the Police, only the Bar President and members of the Board of Directors were permitted to march to the Court of Cassation. Other lawyers will be able to join the protest there by traveling to the location in their vehicles.

The Ankara Bar Association's activities before the protest began with the laying of a wreath at the Atatürk statue in front of the Ankara Courthouse and a moment of silence on the occasion of November 10.

Lawyers had planned to march from there to the Court of Cassation; however, the Deputy Chief of the Ankara Police Department and the Security Branch Manager, who arrived at the meeting point, stated that the march of hundreds of lawyers would not be permitted.

Following this, as a result of negotiations between Ankara Bar President Mustafa Köroğlu and police officials, an agreement was reached for all lawyers to proceed from the Courthouse to Kumrular Street to make a statement there, and subsequently, for only the Bar President and members of the Board of Directors to march to the Court of Cassation via the Konya Road route.
