Breaking News... Full support for the Court of Cassation from Erdoğan! "Like the Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation is also a high court"

The 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, regarding Gezi prisoner and Member of Parliament Can Atalay , ruled not to comply with the Constitutional Court's (AYM) decision, which had found a violation of rights, and filed a criminal complaint against the members of the Constitutional Court.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğanbroke his silence regarding this highly debated move by the Court of Cassation.

"THE DECISION TAKEN BY THE COURT OF CASSATION CAN NEVER BE CAST ASIDE"

Responding to journalists' questions on the plane while returning from Uzbekistan, Erdoğan said the following regarding the 'judicial crisis';

"First and foremost, I suppose no one can deny that the Court of Cassation is a high court. At this point, the Constitutional Court has unfortunately begun to make many mistakes one after another. This saddens us deeply. As of now, the decision taken by the Court of Cassation can never be cast aside or pushed away. In response to the Constitutional Court's decision, the Court of Cassation has now said, 'If you are a high court, I am also a high court, and as a high court, I am now requesting a sanction regarding you.' It is awaiting the fulfillment of this request and is demanding it from the authority that is supposed to carry out the requirements of this request."

"BECAUSE THE LIFTING OF IMMUNITIES WAS DELAYED..."

Criticizing the Parliament as well, Erdoğan used the following expressions:

"If this is the parliament, it is requesting it from the parliament. Now, put Can Atalay aside. Similar things have unfortunately happened before. Our parliament also acts slowly on these issues. I mean, many terrorists escaped and went abroad because the process of lifting immunities in parliament was delayed. These matters should not be handled so slowly. These issues must be concluded with very swift decisions. When these steps are not taken swiftly, you then see one appearing in America, one in Germany, and one in France. Then they threaten Turkey from there. My country should not, and cannot, be faced with threats from perverts who have fled abroad. The Constitutional Court cannot, and should not, take this step taken by the Court of Cassation lightly regarding this issue."

"THEY ARE ALSO MAKING A MISTAKE"

Reacting to AKP members who criticized the Court of Cassation, Erdoğan said the following:

 "If some friends from my party are also criticizing the Court of Cassation here and heaping praise on the Constitutional Court, they are also making a mistake. We must act with the understanding that one of us is for all, and all of us are for one. There is no point in trying to look charming to some people here. Finally, I would like to emphasize that the authority to make a constitution belongs to our Grand National Assembly, and it cannot delegate this authority. No one can reach out to touch this absolute authority of the parliament, which was formed by the will of the nation."

TARGETED ÖZEL: THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM

Targeting CHP Chairman Özgür Özel as well, Erdoğan spoke as follows:

"What did we say? We said 'Bye Bye Kemal.' Did what we said happen? It did. If he had done it when we first said it, it wouldn't have been this negative. But the situation was very different back then. There is no difference between them. I already said this. What did I say? Six of one, half a dozen of the other. One sends greetings to Demirtaş. One sends greetings to Kavala. The other greets them in the same way. Now they are still in the mood that 'if I send greetings to Demirtaş, I will get stronger.' They think, 'if I send greetings to Kavala, I will get stronger.' Look, you cannot get stronger. You will lose too. The other one will lose too. If this party is Atatürk's party, no one who is not national and not local can find shelter in Atatürk's party, and they will not be able to. Now, March 31 will be the scale for this, and on this scale, the People's Alliance will do what is necessary, especially in Istanbul and Ankara. No matter who the Republican People's Party brings to the helm, it will not change, it cannot change."
