Statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the accident that killed a motorcycle courier
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the entire process, including international procedures, is being meticulously carried out to apprehend the son of the Somali President, who caused the death of motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer in Fatih by hitting him.

In a written statement, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that it felt the need to issue a statement to inform the public accurately regarding news reports in some media outlets concerning the traffic accident involving the Somali President's son.
The statement noted that an investigation was immediately launched by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of "negligent injury" following the incident on November 30, the date of the event, when a motorcycle and a vehicle belonging to the Somali Consulate collided on Kennedy Street in the direction of Aksaray, resulting in the injury of the motorcycle driver, Göçer:
"Taking into account the injury of Yunus Emre Göçer, the nature of the crime, and the initial findings regarding fault, the suspect Mohamed Hassan Seıkh Mohamud's statement was taken on the same day, and he was released following his statement.
Upon the death of motorcycle driver Yunus Emre Göçer on 06.12.2023, a detention order was issued for the suspect for the crime of causing death by negligence due to the change in the legal classification of the crime.
Since the detention order could not be executed because the suspect had left the country on 02.12.2023, an arrest warrant was issued for him on 08.12.2023.
A report has been requested from the Council of Forensic Medicine to prepare a final report regarding the suspect's degree of fault. The entire process, including international procedures, is being meticulously carried out to apprehend the suspect, and the investigation is continuing in all its aspects."
