Somali President's son involved in fatal accident had fled the country: Harsh reaction from İmamoğlu

Motor courier Yunus Emre Göçer, who was struck from behind by Somali President's son Mohammed Hassan Shekh Mohamud, has lost his life.

While a travel ban was imposed on Mohamud yesterday, Ekrem İmamoğlu made a statement regarding the matter, expressing his support and stating, "I wish God's mercy upon Göçer and offer my condolences to his family. We will not let this matter go. I will follow the legal process to the end on behalf of tens of thousands of motor courier workers," he had said.

Following the statement made by the Prosecutor's Office, it was revealed that Mohamud, who caused Göçer's death, had fled abroad on December 2, and İmamoğlu made a statement via his X account.

İmamoğlu said the following:

"Motor courier Yunus Emre Göçer was a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. He was torn from this life by an accident caused by the Somali President's son. We said we would follow the legal process, but the suspect left Turkey freely. The pain of the victim's family has only deepened. The mentality that turned a blind eye to this escape and provided the opportunity for it, unfortunately, means that it has fallen into such helplessness that it cannot defend the rights of its own citizens in its own country."
