A new development has occurred regarding the Oscars, which have been awarded since 1929 and recognize the best in the film world.
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang released a joint statement saying, "Casting directors play an essential role in filmmaking, and as the Academy evolves, we are proud to add 'Best Casting' to the disciplines we recognize and celebrate."
Yang also added, "We congratulate our casting directors on this achievement and for their commitment and diligence throughout this process."
The Casting Directors Branch, which was established in 2023, described the news as a 'well-deserved acknowledgment' and 'a testament to the dedicated efforts of our branch.'
With the implementation of the casting Oscar, the total number of awards presented will rise to 24.
