ARE BRIDGES AND HIGHWAYS FREE DURING THE HOLIDAY?
In 2025, the eve of Eid al-Adha falls on Thursday, June 5.
Eid al-Adha will begin on Friday, June 6, and end on Monday, June 9.
During the Eid al-Adha holiday, which is the second religious holiday of the year, bridges and highways under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) will provide service free of charge.
WHICH BRIDGES AND HIGHWAYS WILL BE FREE DURING EID AL-ADHA?
The Presidential Decree regarding the matter has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force. Accordingly, highways under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways (KGM), as well as the July 15 Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, will provide service free of charge during the holiday.
The free passage application will continue from 00:00 on Thursday, June 5, until 00:00 on Monday, June 9.
However, roads that are part of build-operate-transfer projects will be exempt from this free passage.
IS PUBLIC TRANSPORT FREE DURING THE HOLIDAY?
From 00:00 on Friday, June 6, until 24:00 on Monday, June 9, services on the Başkentray, Marmaray, İZBAN, the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme rail system line, and the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutköy metro line can be used free of charge.
In addition, public transport services provided by municipalities and their affiliated unions, institutions, and enterprises will also be free throughout the holiday.
STATEMENT FROM MINISTER URALOĞLU
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding the free transportation application implemented with the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette on June 1, 2025.
Minister Uraloğlu announced that highways managed by the General Directorate of Highways (KGM), as well as the July 15 Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, will be used free of charge throughout Eid al-Adha.
He stated that the application will begin at midnight on Thursday, June 5 (the night connecting Wednesday to Thursday) and will continue until 24:00 on Monday, June 9.
Furthermore, stating that services on the Marmaray, Başkentray, İZBAN, the Sirkeci–Kazlıçeşme rail system line, and the Gayrettepe–Istanbul Airport–Arnavutköy metro line will also provide free service, Uraloğlu announced that this application will last from midnight on Friday, June 6 (the transition from Thursday to Friday) until midnight on Monday, June 9.
Uraloğlu stated, 'We aim to make the journey easier for everyone who wants to reach their loved ones during Eid al-Adha. I wish for the holiday to bring health, happiness, and abundance to our nation.'
