Erkan Özerman laid to rest

A funeral prayer was held at Zincirlikuyu Mosque for Best Model of Turkey Founder Erkan Özerman, who passed away at the hospital where he was receiving cancer treatment. The famous organizer was laid to rest in the family cemetery in İzmit.

Producer, organizer, and artist manager Erkan Özerman, who had been battling cancer for some time, has passed away at the age of 86.

A funeral prayer was held for Özerman at Zincirlikuyu Mosque.

The ceremony was attended by Erkan Özerman's siblings Mehmet Volkan Özerman and Nurkan Tekelioğlu, former models Engin Koç and Yusuf Azuz, model Ece Gürsel, 1988 beauty queen Sibel Tan Arıkan, singer Ege, producer İzzet Öz, and his loved ones.

It was noted that the names Özerman had introduced to the art community did not attend the ceremony.

LAID TO REST IN İZMİT

Following the funeral prayer, Erkan Özerman’s coffin was carried on shoulders and taken to İzmit to be buried. Erkan Özerman's funeral was laid to rest in the family cemetery in İzmit.

WHO IS ERKAN ÖZERMAN?

Erkan Özerman (born November 4, 1938, Istanbul) was a Turkish producer, organizer, and artist manager.

He graduated from Galatasaray High School, the University of Paris VIII Faculty of Sociology, and the Paris Institute of Political Studies.

He worked as a film and theater critic and a magazine columnist for various newspapers. He also served as the director of entertainment programs at Ankara Radio.

He was the President of the 1st International Istanbul Pop Music Festival in 1976, President of the French-Turkish Friendship Association in 1979, Founding President of Best Model of Turkey and Best Model of the World in 1989, and Founding President of the Sportive Ballroom Dance Association in 2001.

Erkan Özerman passed away in Istanbul on February 13, 2024.
