Historian and author Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı participated as a speaker at an event held at Beta Yeni Han in Eminönü as part of World Turkish Coffee Day on December 5.
'IT IS NOT PREPARED AND CONSUMED IN THE WAY WE KNOW'
Making remarks about Turkish coffee, Ortaylı said, "Coffee is a culture, especially for us Turks. The origin of the coffee we consume today is Abyssinia. Today, Syrian ports, Turkey, Iran, and the Mediterranean are the places where coffee has reached.
Turkish coffee is not prepared and consumed in the way we know it in the Middle East and the Balkans, except for Bosnia. As we have seen in history, Turks brew and drink Turkish coffee in the most correct way," he stated.
