Social media influencer Dilan Polat, her husband Engin Polat, her older sister Sıla Doğu, and her brother Can Doğu, among 14 others, were arrested on charges of "establishing and managing a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "laundering assets derived from crime," and "violating the Tax Procedure Law."
A new detail regarding Dilan Polat has emerged.
It has been learned that Dilan Polat and her sister Sıla Doğu were tried in 2020 for using the title of physician without having the necessary diplomas at the beauty center they owned, and that they received a suspended sentence.
PRODUCTS FOUND TO BE WITHOUT CERTIFICATION
The legal process began with a tip-off to CİMER in 2019. Following allegations that unauthorized procedures were being performed at the beauty center operated by Dilan Polat, the Ataşehir District Health Directorate conducted an inspection. As a result of the inspection, it was determined that the individuals were providing unauthorized health services and performing medical interventions, and that the beauty center was permitted to provide health services. Furthermore, it was determined that the devices and products used did not possess the required certifications.
A lawsuit was filed against Dilan Polat and Sıla Doğu, seeking up to 8 years in prison for the crimes of "providing health services without a license" and "treating patients or assuming the title of physician without a diploma." The court issued a warrant for the individuals to be brought by force after they failed to attend the first two hearings.
In their statements to the court during the 2020 hearing, Dilan Polat and Sıla Doğu declared that they operated the beauty center together and did not perform medical interventions. However, an expert report revealed that the individuals had committed the crime of providing health services.
IN THE EVENT OF COMMITTING A CRIME...
In its 2021 ruling, the court initially sentenced Dilan Polat and Sıla Doğu to 2 years in prison each for the crime of "treating patients or assuming the title of physician without a diploma." The sentence was reduced to 1 year and 8 months due to good conduct, and they were also fined 80 liras.
However, the sentence was suspended as it was believed the individuals would not commit a crime again. Upon the individuals' appeal of the decision, the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice rejected the appeal last year and upheld the sentence.
The sentence received by Dilan Polat and Sıla Doğu was suspended for a period of 2 years following the finalization of the file by the Court of Cassation. If they do not commit any intentional crime during this period, the sentence will not be executed; otherwise, the 1-year and 8-month prison sentence will be enforced.
With the finalization of the file by the Court of Cassation, a 2-year probation period will begin, and if the individuals do not commit a crime, the cases will be dropped.
