It has emerged that Dilan Polat and Sıla Doğu previously received prison sentences

It has emerged that Dilan Polat and her sister Sıla Doğu, who were arrested following an investigation into charges of establishing a criminal organization and money laundering, had previously been sentenced by a court.

THEY WERE REPORTED TO CIMER

According to a report in Sabah; The legal process began in 2019 with a report filed to CIMER. It was stated that unauthorized procedures were being performed at the beauty center operated by Polat in Ataşehir. The Ataşehir District Health Directorate conducted an inspection of the center. It was determined that they were performing medical interventions on customers without authorization and that the beauty center was permitted to provide health services without proper licensing.

A lawsuit was filed against Dilan Polat and her sister demanding up to 8 years in prison for the crimes of 'providing health services without a license' and 'treating patients without a diploma or assuming the title of a physician'.

Dilan Polat stated that she operated the beauty center with her sister, that they did not employ doctors at the workplace, but that they employed experts in the field of beauty, adding, "We were not performing Botox or dermapen procedures." In his opinion, the prosecutor stated that the expert report refuted the defendants' testimony.

The report stated that they performed dermapen applications, a method of applying medication under the skin with needles, in patient records. Noting that a dermapen device was found at the workplace, the prosecution stated that these procedures were among those that could not be performed by a beautician.

GOOD CONDUCT REDUCTION APPLIED

The prosecutor requested their acquittal on the charge of 'providing health services without a license' on the grounds that the defendants were not healthcare professionals, and that they be punished for the crime of 'treating patients without a diploma or assuming the title of a physician'. In the verdict issued in March 2021, the court initially sentenced the defendants Dilan Polat and Sıla Doğu to 2 years in prison each for the crime of 'treating patients without a diploma or assuming the title of a physician', then reduced the sentence to 1 year and 8 months by applying a good conduct reduction due to their behavior during the trial. It also imposed a judicial fine of 80 liras. However, the sentence was suspended due to the conviction that they would not commit a crime again. The defendants were acquitted of the charge of 'providing health services without a license'.

The sisters appealed the sentence. The Istanbul Regional Court of Justice rejected the appeal last year and upheld the sentence. The defendants took the file to the Court of Cassation with a request for acquittal, while the Ataşehir District Health Directorate did so to have the acquittal decision for one of the crimes overturned and for them to be punished.

THEIR SENTENCES WERE SUSPENDED

The defendants' sentences were suspended for a period of 2 years. The defendants were warned that if they commit an intentional crime within this period, the suspended prison sentence will be partially or fully executed in a penal institution.

The court issued a warrant for the forcible appearance of Dilan Polat and her sister Sıla Doğu, who did not attend the first two hearings. Dilan Polat, who appeared before the judge in November 2020, stated during her identification that she operated a beauty center and that her monthly income was 30 thousand liras.

Sıla Doğu stated that she worked at the beauty center and that her monthly income was 30 thousand liras, just like her sister.
