Shueisha Inc, the publisher of the Dragon Ball series, announced that Toriyama died due to an acute subdural hematoma, described as a type of brain hemorrhage.

Manga fans, who gathered in various costumes and with manga figures, lit candles and sang songs to commemorate Toriyama, who lost his life on Friday, March 1.
WHO IS AKIRA TORIYAMA?
Akira Toriyama (April 5, 1955 - March 1, 2024) was a Japanese mangaka and character designer.
Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump are the manga series that brought him recognition. As a character designer, he designed characters for the Dragon Quest video game series.
Because Toriyama's works are extremely popular and influential, he is considered one of the mangakas who changed the history of manga and has been a source of inspiration for many other mangakas.
He won the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for shojo manga with Dr. Slump, which sold 35 million copies in Japan. After the manga ended, an anime adaptation was produced in 1997.
His subsequent series, Dragon Ball, became the world's most successful and popular manga. With over 230 million copies sold worldwide, it remained the best-selling manga of all time for a long period. Dragon Ball also has anime adaptations.
