Journalist Fatih Altaylı: 'I am celebrating the birthday of my sister-in-law, who is sweeter than honey'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who has frequently been in the spotlight recently due to his statements, went on a boat tour in Istanbul with his wife Hande Altaylı and his sister-in-law Ceyda Erenoğlu.

Sharing a post from the boat with his sister-in-law Erenoğlu, Altaylı wrote, "I am celebrating the birthday of my sister-in-law, who is sweeter than honey. I cannot write her age because she will be very angry."

WHO IS FATİH ALTAYLI?

Fatih Altaylı (born September 20, 1962, in Van) is a Turkish journalist. He has hosted programs such as "Teke Tek," "Teke Tek Özel," and "Teke Tek Bilim" on Habertürk TV, as well as "Bire Bir" on Bloomberg HT.

Fatih Altaylı is a recipient of the "Contribution to Education Honor Award" jointly presented by TİKAD and the European Journalists Association. He is one of the architects of the "Let's Go Girls to School," "One Minute of Darkness for Constant Light," and "Clean Internet" campaigns.

He was born on September 20, 1962, in Van. He comes from a family of Turkmen origin. After attending primary and secondary school at Çavuşoğlu College, he continued his education at Galatasaray High School. He is a graduate of Galatasaray High School. After attending Boğaziçi University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences for a while, he dropped out and transferred to the Istanbul University School of Press and Broadcasting in 1984. However, he left this school as well without receiving his diploma.

Altaylı began his journalism career in 1982 as a sports reporter for the newspaper Cumhuriyet, and moved to the newspaper Güneş in 1986. He served as the editorial director at Gelişim Publications. He became unemployed when the newspaper Güneş closed in 1992. In 1993, he was among the founding staff of the private radio station Best FM.

In 1995, he moved to Kanal D and began the program "Teke Tek." During the same period, he also started writing for the newspaper Hürriyet. Later, after leaving Kanal D, he moved to Show TV. He continued his radio broadcasts on Show TV and Show Radyo for about a year. In the same year, he became the news editor for Show TV.

After leaving Show TV in 1996, he returned to Kanal D and began working for the Doğan Media Group. While writing for the newspaper Hürriyet, he also served as the general coordinator for Radyo D. In 2000, he conducted joint broadcasts with Cine5. In the summer of 2002, he was appointed as the news director of Kanal D.

Between 2001 and 2002, he served as the second president of the Galatasaray Sports Club under the administration of Mehmet Cansun. Altaylı, who holds membership number 6767, was expelled from the Galatasaray Sports Club on April 27, 2021. The decision to expel Fatih Altaylı was overturned by the majority of members at the 2020 ordinary general assembly meeting held on October 17, 2021.

In 2005, he left Hürriyet and moved to the newspaper Sabah. The program "Teke Tek," which was broadcast on Kanal D, moved to atv. In 2006, he became the editor-in-chief of Sabah. Following the seizure of the newspaper Sabah and atv by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), he resigned in 2007. For a while, he continued his writings on his own website. He presented the main news bulletin on Kanal 1.

He had been serving as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Habertürk, founded by his former boss Turgay Ciner, since January 2009, but resigned from this position on March 29, 2014. The Habertürk management ended the broadcasts of Altaylı, who was the host of the "Teke Tek" program, as of May 16, 2023.

In his farewell article, referring to Turgay Ciner, he said, "My freedom should not be his burden," and announced that he had parted ways with Habertürk after speaking with Kenan Tekdağ.

He writes columns on his own website and creates content on current events on his YouTube channel, which also bears his name.
