Nihal Candan's lawyer speaks out: 'Her mental state is poor, she is not eating'

Sisters Nihal and Bahar Candan, who rose to fame through the fashion competitions they participated in, were arrested last November on charges of "being a member of a criminal organization" and "laundering assets derived from crime" for allegedly defrauding 79 victims.
Protesting the conditions in prison, Nihal Candan began to lose weight rapidly.
Candan is being held in the same ward as bank manager Seçil Erzan and has begun to experience psychological problems.
Candan, who has previously struggled with and received treatment for anorexia, refused to eat due to her protest in prison, leading to weight loss that brought her down to 37 kilograms.
'SHE HAS STOPPED EATING'
Stating that Candan, who has been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, needs to be treated, Attorney Kasım Ergün said, "Nihal rebelled against her arrest and stopped eating, and this situation has become permanent. Her mental state is poor; she says, 'I want to go to heaven.' We have applied to the prison administration for her transfer to a hospital."
Concerned about Nihal Candan's health, Umut Candan and Hakan Candan emphasized that their sister needs to be taken under medical care immediately.
Nihal Candan was born on June 15, 1995, in Mersin. Nihal Candan, who studied at the Istanbul Beykent University Faculty of Law, became famous with the competition "Bu Tarz Benim" (This Is My Style).
She has a sister named Bahar Candan, born in 1997, who participated in the same competition.
Nihal Candan also competed on the volunteers' team in the Survivor 2016 competition, which began on February 7, 2016.
