Two new building blocks aged 12 to 13 billion years old discovered that played a role in the formation of the Milky Way

According to a statement from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, astronomers examined data from approximately 6 million stars obtained from the Gaia Space Telescope.

Astronomers identified two new building blocks, named Shakti and Shiva, which came together 12 to 13 billion years ago and played a role in the formation of the Milky Way Galaxy.

It is believed that Shakti and Shiva, which are estimated to be among the oldest building blocks of the Milky Way, will provide important information regarding the origins of the galaxy.

The results of the research were published in the Astrophysical Journal.
