Verdict reached in sexual assault case filed by actress Görkem Ece Ercan against cinematographer Baybars TEKİN

Carried out by cinematographer Tekin, the charge of "sexual assault by way of molestation" has reached a court verdict.

Görkem Ece Ercan's lawyer, Sultan Seda Çakır Kaplan, announced the decision by issuing a public statement.

It was stated that Tekin was sentenced to 2 years in prison for the crime of "Sexual Assault by Way of Molestation."

Statement from Görkem Ece Ercan's attorney:

A criminal complaint was filed by us with the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the act of "Sexual Assault by Molestation" committed against our client, Görkem Ece Ercan, by cinematographer Baybars TEKİN, with whom she worked on the TV series project "Yeşil Vadi'nin Kızı". Following the investigation conducted against the individual, an indictment was prepared on June 27, 2022. As a result of the trial held at the Istanbul Anatolian 67th Criminal Court of First Instance under file number 2022/1299E, the defendant Baybars TEKİN was sentenced to 2 years in prison for the crime of "Sexual Assault by Molestation" pursuant to Article 102/1-2 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). Finally, the conviction against the defendant was finalized by the decision of the 25th Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice, numbered 2023/1808E and 2023/1848K.

Furthermore, regarding the sexually explicit messages sent to our client by Baybars TEKİN via social media, an indictment was prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office upon our complaint, in accordance with Articles 105/1-1, 105/2.d, and 53 of the TCK, at the Istanbul 46th Criminal Court of First Instance where the trial process is ongoing under file number 2023/821E.
