Following his detention and the appointment of a trustee by the Ministry of Interior to replace him, Hakkari Co-Mayor Mehmet Sıddık Akış has been sentenced to 19 years and 6 months in prison, and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.

Following the 19-year and 6-month prison sentence, Sıddık Akış was taken out of the courthouse in an armored vehicle and sent to Van Prison.

WHO IS MEHMET SIDDIK AKIŞ?

Mehmet Sıddık Akış was born in 1970 in the Çukurca district of Hakkari. Having completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in the city center, Akış has served in various levels of his party since 1992.

Akış, who served as provincial chair between 2008 and 2012, was elected as a Provincial General Assembly Member in 1999.

Akış is married and a father of 4 children.
