AKP statement on 'Newborn' gang: 'We will uncover all extensions of this murder network'

AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made statements regarding the gang that generated illicit profits by referring newborn babies to contracted hospitals in Istanbul and caused their deaths through negligence. 

Speaking at the AKP Sarıçam 6th Ordinary District Congress held in the Sarıçam district of Adana, Çelik stated that the incident has caused public outrage.

WE WILL UNCOVER ALL EXTENSIONS OF THIS MURDER NETWORK

In his statement, Çelik said, "The picture that has unfortunately emerged in the face of this incident, which has deeply saddened us and kept us awake for the past few days, and the dialogues and conversations of this murder network have had a shocking effect on everyone." Emphasizing that the incident is being followed closely, Çelik stated, "We will uncover all extensions of this murder network and fight with all our might to ensure they face the punishment they deserve."

The investigation file regarding the gang that generated illicit profits by referring babies to contracted hospitals in Istanbul was converted into an indictment by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. While the details of the indictment prepared against 47 suspects, 22 of whom are under arrest, have drawn public reaction, criticisms have been directed at the government, primarily the Ministry of Health.

IT HAS HAD A SHOCKING EFFECT

Ömer Çelik used the following expressions in his assessment of the issue:

"We are following the news regarding a gang in the neonatal units of some hospitals that caused the deaths of newborn babies for the purpose of profit with sensitivity in every respect. Our Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Health are following this matter very closely. As a party, we are also following the issue. The picture that has unfortunately emerged in the face of this incident, which has deeply saddened us and kept us awake for the past few days, and the dialogues and conversations of this murder network have had a shocking effect on everyone."

Çelik also emphasized their determination by saying, "This murder network continues to make threats here and there. We will not make any concessions to any of them. We will uncover all extensions of this murder network and fight with all our might to ensure they face the punishment they deserve. We are very sorry for our lost little ones, our babies. We will do everything in our power to ensure this murder network receives the punishment it deserves."
