Akşener had forced his resignation: İYİ Party's Özkan re-elected as IMM Group Deputy Chair

İbrahim Özkan, the İYİ Party Group Deputy Chair of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council who resigned from his post at the request of İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, has been re-elected as group deputy chair by the council members.

Following the İYİ Party's decision to enter the local elections in all 81 provinces with its own candidates, a series of resignations took place within the party.

One of these individuals was İbrahim Özkan, the İYİ Party Group Deputy Chair of the IMM Council. He had resigned from this position at the request of İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener.

ISMAIL SAYMAZ SHARED THE NEWS

İsmail Saymaz announced in a post on his social media account that İbrahim Özkan, who was forced to resign at Akşener's request, has been elected as the İYİ Party IMM Group Deputy Chair.

Saymaz stated the following:

Yesterday, İYİ Party's IMM Group Deputy Chair İbrahim Özkan was forced to resign at Akşener's request because he advocated for cooperation with the CHP. Today, the İYİ Party IMM Group held an election for the deputy chairmanship. Özkan was re-elected with the votes of seven out of the eight council members who participated in the voting.

Meanwhile, the İYİ Party IMM Group removed Suat Sarı, who had announced his candidacy for mayor against İmamoğlu, from his position as group spokesperson and appointed Bora Kılıç in his place.

Following his re-election as deputy chair by the İYİ Party IMM Group, İbrahim Özkan published a thank-you message on his social media account. Özkan used the following expressions:

“I thank my colleagues who demonstrated their will in a 'free and independent' manner and re-elected me as the İYİ Party IMM Group Deputy Chair for the trust they have placed in me.”
