WHAT DID ENSARİOĞLU SAY?
Regarding the debate that began over naming a boulevard in Diyarbakir after Sheikh Said, Ensarioğlu had said the following:
"I vehemently reject the accusations directed at Sheikh Said, who has become one of the social and religious values of the region, in the debates that have recently started over naming a boulevard in Diyarbakir after Sheikh Said Efendi, one of the most important values of our region. Those who express such accusations serve no purpose other than deepening social polarization. We see respect and reverence for all the values of society as a form of 'memory peace.' In this vein, as I have stated many times before, disclosing the burial sites of Bediüzzaman Said Nursi and Seyid Rıza, who have also become great values like Sheikh Said, will serve this 'memory peace.' While the burial sites of the mentioned figures are a public matter, labeling them as a 'state secret' is absurd and does not serve 'memory peace.' The relevant parties should know that we will not allow the belief that a lasting climate of peace can be achieved through the involvement of all segments of society—starting with a 'memory peace' in our country—to be broken. Furthermore, I hope that the relevant public who holds this belief will express it with a louder voice."
