Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made assessments regarding the agenda during a press conference he held in Şanlıurfa. Regarding the arrest of CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, he stated, "The situation that municipal administrators will face if they are members of a terrorist organization is clear under the municipal law. Our nation is among the first in the world to suffer the most from terrorism. We hold in high regard those mayors, regardless of their party, who distance themselves from terrorism, display a national stance, and fight against this scourge without any ifs or buts. It is our duty to hold those who are affiliated with terrorism accountable. The trustee of a city cannot be a supporter of terrorism. There is no politics of terrorism; it can only be fought against. Subcontractor organizations like the PKK are the game of those who cannot digest Turkey's power."
"PROOF THAT THE JUDICIARY IS UNDER PRESSURE"
The first response to Yerlikaya came from CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın.
In his statement to 12punto, Günaydın said, "It seems the Interior Minister has already delivered the verdict... The positions they hold are very serious, and they must act in accordance with this seriousness."
Stating that the judiciary is being pressured, Günaydın added, "Even this speech is proof that the judiciary is being instrumentalized on one hand and being pressured on the other."
