Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements before a closed-door group meeting he was to hold with deputies.

Speaking about the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place, Özel said, "One of our eyes is in Silivri, and our ear is in Esenyurt. From now on, none of us will leave Esenyurt unattended."

Stating that "They put our party member in Silivri with slander," Özel added, "Instead of electing a deputy from the Municipal Council, they appointed a trustee."

MANSUR YAVAŞ NOT ATTENDING THE ESENYURT RALLY

Özel was asked about ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, and Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal, who did not attend the rally they held in Esenyurt yesterday (October 31).

Stating that all mayors who did not attend had provided their justifications, Özel said, "Mr. Mansur attended another event organized with the same sentiment as ours afterward. When you tell mayors to be somewhere one day later, they do not always have the opportunity to be there. We are extremely respectful of important excuses. It is not just 3 mayors. Perhaps 60 percent of our mayors could not attend. This is not about failing to comply with the call, but about their obligations not to disrupt the public duties they perform."

"I WILL NOT BE A CANDIDATE, WHO IS THE AK PARTY'S ACTUAL CANDIDATE?"

Regarding the debates on his party's presidential candidate, Özel said, "I will not be a candidate myself. Just as I will not be a candidate alone, I will not determine the candidate alone either." Stating that the CHP does not have a candidate problem, Özel said, "Who is the AK Party's actual candidate? If they do not want an early election, Erdoğan cannot be a candidate."

'WE WANT AN EARLY ELECTION, NOT A BY-ELECTION'

Touching upon Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's call for 'resignation from parliament' (sine-i millet), Özel said, "Resigning from parliament is a trap. We want an early election, not a by-election."

'WE WILL CONFRONT THEM'

Özel said, "There are those who think, 'Is the IMM (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) the target after Esenyurt?' Let them not worry at all. Let there be no confusion, we will confront them."

"ESENYURT IS LIKE A MUSEUM OF URBAN CRIMES"

Özel's statements are as follows:

"While Esenyurt was being managed by the CHP, it was won by the AKP in 2004. It was managed by Necmi Kadıoğlu.

We took over Esenyurt, which we had handed over with a population of under 100 thousand, with a population of 1 million in 2019. Esenyurt is like a museum of urban crimes. Every evil done to a city has been done to Esenyurt.

It is a place where unlimited floors were granted to small plots, where the wind cannot pass between the blocks, and where that rent caused the AKP to remain silent about crimes committed against the city on purpose.

Esenyurt had enough, they took it in 2019 and gave it to us. But Mr. Necmi had been forced to resign in 2017.

Why were mayors being forced to resign during that period? They were either FETÖ members or they were involved in corruption. But did we hear of any trials against them? We did not.

Now he says 'We are coming back' with a social media post. Yes, they came back.

The people of Esenyurt took Esenyurt out of their hands and gave it to the CHP. They could not digest it. At the first opportunity, they came with lies, deceit, and slander, labeled a professor who has been a party member for 10 years as a member of a separatist organization, put him in Silivri, and then, instead of electing a deputy from the municipal council there, they appointed someone as a trustee who is convenient, useful, and whom they can make commit crimes, someone who managed the municipality and the district governorship in the same building in Beyoğlu and who said 'get out of this building' the day after we won Beyoğlu.

What will happen? They will manage Esenyurt again. They are coming to commit urban crimes and manage the rent."
