Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu made statements regarding the "Ahmak" (Fool) case, in which he is being tried with a request for a prison sentence.
Visiting the Presidents of the Türk-İş and Hak-İş confederations in Ankara, İmamoğlu expressed his hope for the judiciary to function and for the case to be concluded quickly.
'A SHAMEFUL CASE'
Ekrem İmamoğlu made statements to members of the press in front of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye following his visits to Türk-İş and Hak-İş. Stating that the prison sentence verdict against him is currently in the appellate process, İmamoğlu said, "I do not know if there is another case in the history of the Turkish judiciary that is as baseless and shameful as this one. I hope the judiciary will reach a fair decision and send a positive message to our nation. I hope a decision is reached quickly for the sake of our country and for the sake of justice being served."
WE ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS FACED BY WAGE EARNERS
İmamoğlu visited Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay in the morning. During the visit, emphasizing that Türkiye's economic difficulties affect wage earners the most, İmamoğlu said, "Türk-İş is one of the most important labor organizations in Türkiye. They are putting up an intense struggle on this issue. Local governments also have economic difficulties, and in this context, a strong balance needs to be established."
